Dashwood Station 61 Members training on Vent Enter Isolate Search techniques at our joint training facility in Qualicum. This tactic is an important skill to learn when firefighters need to make quick access to rooms to search for possible occupants. Crews ladder the building at the window they want to enter, remove the glass, check the conditions, then enter the room, check the door and then close it and conduct a primary search of the room. They can search multiple rooms this way from entering in from the outside of the structure. Have a great day and stay safe!

Environment Canada is warning of a possible snow event for coastal BC that could bring challenging travel/driving conditions, power outages (if snow becomes heavy) and health concerns for vulnerable people due to colder than average weather. A weather system is on its way from the Gulf of Alaska, beginning on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 23) for North Coast and overnight into Sunday (Jan. 24) for Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. Temperatures overnight will likely hover a...bove and below 0C and areas near the Salish Sea could see a mix of rain and snow. Snow amounts are going to be highly variable and are most likely at higher elevations and further away from the coast.
