#safetysaturday. KFR wants to remind everyone, DO NOT throw your lithium/lipo batteries in the dumpster. Someone threw an old E-Bike battery in the garbage, which caught on fire in the back of a City of Kamloops garbage truck. Think it through, recycle your batteries! #firesafety
In case of a fire, @kamloopsfirerescue crews need quick access to fire hydrants. Every second counts. If you have a hydrant in your yard, why not ensure that it's accessible? You'll even get a work out. #firesafety #kamloopsfirerescue
Kamloops Fire Rescue crews are prepared to rescue you if you fall through the ice. We run multiple calls every year for people and pets who venture onto our frozen rivers. We'd prefer that to be zero. Don't explore, stay on shore! @kamloopsfirerescue
I was going to make a video about having a visible address.....this guy did a much better job. Simple fact, if we can't find you, we can't help you. Make sure your address is visible from the street.
With warmer temperatures on the way, and the chance of rain, now is a good time for our friends at higher elevations to think about shoveling off roofs, sheds and decks. While our snow load in Kamloops isn't nearly the amount of some places close by, it's worth considering. A 12 inch snow depth can weigh between 10-20 pounds per square foot. Shovel your deck and enjoy the view! #firesafety
@kamloopsfirerescue spends countless hours training and practicing their skills. Here, the crews perform a mock hazmat/confined space rescue. We’d don’t get a lot of these calls specifically, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be prepared. #firesafety#hazmat#kamloops
#safetysaturday. It's cold. The rivers are freezing up. Lets do everyone a favour and stay off the ice. #firesafety#kamloopsfirerescue#icesafety
Every morning, and every evening, the trucks @kamloopsfirerescue go through a pre-trip to make sure they are ready for the shift. Fire Fighter Jarod Gaudry shows us some bits and pieces of a pre-trip on Rescue 1. *As stated, this is just clips of a pre-trip and not an entire walk through* #kamloopsfire#pretrip#rescue1
#talktuesday. "How often should I clean my chimney?" Well, for sake of simplicity, the answer is at least once a year. However, it's important to check your chimney regularly, and if there is any creosote glaze or build up, give it a clean. A clean chimney is a safe chimney! #firesafety#kamloops#woodburning#safety
Happy New Year!
Its cold out, the rivers are starting to ice over. @kamloopsfireresce crews refreshing on how to deploy the Ice Rescue craft. PS-Stay off the ice! #icesafety#firesafety#kamloops#kamloopsfirerescue
#talktuesday. Should I teach my kids about playing with candles (fire)? YES!! Please, talk to your kids of all ages about the dangers of playing with fire. Recently @kamloopsfirerescue attended a call that involved a youth playing with candles in their bedroom. We've got to ask, do you think it's worth talking to them judging from this picture? If you're not sure how, give us a call and we will walk you through it. #firesafety#kidssafety#playingwithfire#candlesafety#kamloops#kamloopsfirerescue
