Share The Road Pilot Project User Survey After a great deal of effort, many meetings, gathering background information and building a strong partnership between the Nova Scotia government and the All-Terrain Vehicle Association of Nova Scotia the ‘Share The Road Pilot Project was launched. Now government through their consultant are seeking your feedback.... In October 2018, Nova Scotia launched a three-year pilot project in seven communities across the province to safely enhance trail connectivity for off highway vehicles (OHVs). The Pilot Project enables OHVs at the selected sites to access the shoulders of public roadways, and the roadway itself where necessary, in order to safely travel from one OHV trail to another, or to access amenities such as gas stations and restaurants. You can have your voice heard by participating in the user survey by simply clicking on the following link and completing the provided survey. http://surveys.novascotia.ca/OHVRiderSurvey Information gathered through this survey will assist government as they move to a permanent program that could enable shared road use in other areas in the future. The hard work and success of the ATVANS board, staff, clubs and members resulted in the pilot project, we now seek your support again as we move to the next phase. Please complete the survey and help advance the Share the Road Project Thank you ATVANS

Trail Update: ****************** As most of you know, there was an accident between Granddaddy hill and Jim Horne Lake. For those who are wondering, this was just a "fluke" accident, the rider is at home and recovering.... In partnership with Fundy ATVenturers ATV Club, we went back on Sunday and completed the repairs needed to make the trail safe for all riders to avoid incidents like what happened. A huge thank you to Eldon Hebb for donating his backhoe to load the material, as well as thank you to Trevor Hebb and Starfish Demolition for the use of their truck and trailer to haul the materials back to the site. Dylan and I also stopped at the warming hut and took out two bags of cans and that was only about half of what was there. Please remember to pack out what you pack in. Thank you for your continued support so we can do more work like this. This is your club funds at work! We have lots more planned!! I made a short video showing what we did, this is the kind of stuff that happens behind the scenes mostly and for most people they aren't aware that these kinds of things are going on. It's all about making the trails safer for all riders! https://youtu.be/lVWGa94RtTc #bbatv #rollinritetireservices #supportlocal #trailwork #nstrails #stuckdodge #fordtotherescue #ATVANSatwork Canmac Watercraft & More Rollin' Rite Tire Services Liberty CC Atlantic Car Stereos & Accessories

Received an email from Creighton Sangster who is involved in the Ocean Lake Riders ATV club. He sent me an email with some pictures attached about one of their ...recent projects. Another sustainable trail project completed by great volunteers. This club has been doing great work and have an LOA for 79km of trail on Crown land in there area along with all the private landowner agreements. Great work Creighton and Ocean Lake Riders ATV Club! UPDATED NOTICE TO RIDERS TRAVELING IN NORTH BEAVER BANK *********************************************************************** We have been advised that a land owner in North Beaver Bank near the former radar base has posted or will be posting his land as No Trespassing. Under the OHV act there are no prescriptive rights to travel on private property with an ATV. Riders need to be aware that it may be an offence under the act for traveling on an ATV in an area posted as ...No Trespassing. We understand this owner is very frustrated with riders ignoring his directive. The club will attempt to communicate with the land owner. However; unless things change please respect his land rights so that we can resolve this matter in a positive way. Thank you for your cooperation, Your Beaver Bank ATV Club Executive Committee

To the person who stole our trail cam. It was a cell activated cam and we now have your picture. Option 1 - return it, no questions asked Option 2 - RCMP will return it to us and deal with you accordingly.... We are all volunteers who just want to ride our ATVs and work hard alongside land owners to be able to continue to access the lands/trails we have. Please stop making it so difficult to do so. We live in an amazing OHV friendly community and would like to keep it that way. Thank you, Your BBATV Executive Committee

Riding Update - North Beaver Bank - Granddaddy Hill Area: ***************************************************************** Please use caution on the trail that runs between the two powerlines between Jim Horne lake and Granddaddy Hill. There are multiple holes in the road on the trail running between the two powerlines that are drawn in red on the map.... There was a very serious accident on that trail last night, neither alcohol nor speed were factors, there is a ledge in one of the holes that caused the accident. Both people involved are home and recovering. ********************************************************************* Please travel safe and remember that trail conditions are ever changing, please take caution especially in areas you don't travel frequently. **********************************************************************

MUST READ. after waking up to numerous people sending me the post that’s been going around Facebook / other things about the radar/ villa and the crazine...ss of these things apparently being put in the trails. I reached out to my family (who owns the radar btw) I knew right away this wasn’t my grampy, but after seeing many horrific comments about him I needed to see what was going on. The villa (nursing home area) has a different owner, for a long time now. Once you reach the barrier (most people will know what I’m talking about) there was 16 acres just sold, so I want to make it clear if these traps really are being set up it’s not the original owners doing it and that would never even cross their minds, if he was to ever do that I think he would’ve done it a long time ago considering just how long the property has been owned by my family. Also if people could stop talking about him that’d be really nice, he’s 83 years old and doesn’t even know what Facebook is he’s not able to defend his name that all of you are slandering, for a lot of people from Beaverbank it’s disheartening to see because my grampy has done a lot for the community and I can only imagine how he would feel after reading all these comments / threats Please share, thanks

Here is some further clarification of the land situation at the villa: Hey folks. I am not the owner of the radar base but they are my family. The area in Blue is owned by the Sheens. This includes the radar station. At this time the family does not want ATV's, walkers etc on the property. I was personally threatened by a pair of guys with their Side by side yesterday who were climbing the radar station and I asked them to climb down. ... The family has been receiving threats from people they asked to leave the property. So please respect their wishes. The area in red has recently been purchased. He is in control of his property and has been in contact with the RCMP. No one is welcome on any of the plots at this time.

Greg Grant and I went back this morning and installed the nailing strips on the i-beams on the bridge off Tom Barron Rd in West Gore. A hopeful 2 hour job quic...kly took 4h after generator troubles and broken drill bits. But, we all know nothing ever goes as planned. We are installing the bridge decking next Saturday morning, nov 14 at 10am. LOOKING FOR HELPERS FOR A FEW HOURS. You can drive a truck/suv to within a 5 min walk of bridge. Contact myself or Greg Grant if directions are needed. Don't need to be a club member to come out and help. This bridge is on one of our and the Driftclimbers main trails, and is open to all ohv users. Everyone uses it, be great to see everyone help out.

Beaver Bank ATV Club 08.09.2020

One step forward, two steps back. I would like to thank those people involved in damaging/removing some of our signs, and moving the barriers we placed to keep... trucks from going across our bridge. Never will our club have to worry about places to spend money, or things for our volunteers to do as long as people keep doing stupid disrespectful things. We put up signs and reroute a trail to keep a landowner happy. The sign gets damaged, thrown in the woods and the trail continues to be used. Same landowner, a little further down trail. We pay out of our club funds to have barriers placed by the bridge for the same landowner to do 2 things: - keep heavier vehicles off of bridge as bridge is no longer certified due to fire - to prevent vehicle traffic from being able to go through road and rutting causing land owner to spend money to fix the road. This section of road was built by the club, with the land owners permission. Now guess what...signs get removed, barriers get moved....now the land owner is considering to permanently block off road. 5 years ago the section of road with the bridge didnt exist. The road on other side of bridge was overgrown and unusable by vehicle traffic. The club gets a grant, fixes the road for all to use. Once it was built, trucks use it steady. The barriers got moved to saved someone in a truck going 10min out of their way to get to the other side. Even though most of the atving population do not realize it, it takes a lot of time and negotiations to keep trails open. Stupid shit like this makes me not want to care anymore, and just give up. People complain about the clubs, but did anyone ever stop to think what would happen without them? The barriers were moved about 3 weeks ago...the same time more hunters started hitting the woods...coincidence? Well thank you to whomever that individual was...when the road is blocked off permanently, or the bridge removed....you can be some proud of yourself that you were the cause of the trail being shutdown.

ATTN All Riders in Rosley Road Area: If you ride in the Rosley Road area, please be aware, the trail marked in red is OFF LIMITS. This is private land leading to a horse farm and the owner is having issues with OHV riders coming through his land to access Rosley Road. This is private land along with a very large chunk of land in the area. If he continues to have riders disregard the signage, ropes and downed trees to keep people out and disrespecting himself as well, he is ...going to block all access to the area. This includes the main logging road itself. He owns the entire area and WILL fence it off to restrict access. We had a meeting with him over the weekend and are working with the owners to address their concerns. Please pass the message around and stay off this land. The owners have posted signs, they have been removed, reposted and removed again. Please respect the landowners wishes. ***If you see hunters in this area, please pass the message to them as well to stay off the land, he has many horses on his land and does not appreciate hunters encroaching on his farm***

Had an amazing day on the trails yesterday out to the " Walton pub", we had 35 bikes and 43 people, we filled the Walton pub, upstairs, downstairs, patio and picnic tables! A HUGE thank you to the pub staff, they were amazing, well prepared with staff to handle the crowd and got everyone served and back on the trails in the time I had allotted for lunch. Thank you very much! Congratulations to Jerry Marr for winning the 50/50, the take was $95!!... It was awesome to see so many families out enjoying the trails together and having a great time getting muddy and enjoying the day. We gained multiple members, sold an entire book of 2021 memberships at the lunch break, more new members than renewing, that's AWESOME to see! Couldn't have said it better myself. The clubs work VERY hard to get trail work done, none of it would be possible without the OHVIF which is where your registration money goes. However; without clubs, there would be no one to do the actual work! Get out and join/support your local club! I know in Beaver Bank in particular, we need your support, once we get more LOA's in place on our sections of crown land, we'll be able to start doing more work on the trails.
