As we continue looking for land to steward and grow on, we continue to be informed by conversations such as this. Hope to see you there! Please do share around and encourage folks to participate.... ***Description*** "Join us on Wednesday, July 29 at 7:00pm on Zoom to share in a screening and discussion of the documentary film, Stories of Decolonization: Land Dispossession and Settlement. Filmmakers Teddy Zegeye-Gebrehiwot, Elizabeth (Liz) Carlson, Gladys Rowe, and Sarah Story present the narratives of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people from across Canada who have come to understand themselves in relation to colonization and have engaged in decolonization work. Stemming from interviews that Liz did as part of her PhD, the film is intended to showcase work being done by Indigenous activists and settlers working in allyship to understand and challenge settler colonialism in Canada, offering inspiration and examples for those hoping to learn more and challenge the visible and invisible roles of settler colonialism in their own lives. This event is open to anyone with an interest and an open heart. We will begin with introductions, following which everyone is invited to watch the film on their own at https://www.storiesofdecolonization.org/film-one.html Then we will reconvene for a panel discussion with the filmmakers and a question and answer period in which everyone is welcome to join. This screening is sponsored by the National Farmers Union Local 310 and the Lanark County Neighbours for Truth and Reconciliation. The event is free; however, donations to the Ardoch Algonquin Culture Camp will be gratefully accepted at https://www.gf.me/u/v49455 Registration information will be available in a few days. Please bookmark your calendar!"

In these ongoing times of state violence we want to continue to be reminded by you, our community, and to remind you how helpful it can be to share resources directly with the folks resisting the intense forms of oppression here in Canada. If you have the means, please send money to these folks and continue to share the voices/efforts of Black, Indigenous, and people of colour : ) "We contributed on an Action Network fundraiser to Unist'ot'en 2020 Legal Fund....Continue reading

This World I would like to write a poem about the world that has in it nothing fancy. But it seems impossible. Whatever the subject, the morning sun glimmers it.... The tulip feels the heat and flaps its petals open and becomes a star. The ants bore into the peony bud and there is a dark pinprick well of sweetness. As for the stones on the beach, forget it. Each one could be set in gold. So I tried with my eyes shut, but of course the birds were singing. And the aspen trees were shaking the sweetest music out of their leaves. And that was followed by, guess what, a momentous and beautiful silence as comes to all of us, in little earfuls, if we're not too hurried to hear it. As for spiders, how the dew hangs in their webs even if they say nothing, or seem to say nothing. So fancy is the world, who knows, maybe they sing. So fancy is the world, who knows, maybe the stars sing too, and the ants, and the peonies, and the warm stones, so happy to be where they are, on the beach, instead of being locked up in gold. -Mary Oliver
