I Am Calgary

Took the leap and took a lesson! Enjoyed a fantastic 5 hours out with @ucoutdoorcentre cross country ski instructors who did a brilliant job of getting this unbalanced African boy to begin to find his skiing legs! Hillary and Megan were super-patient, encouraging and capable as they led our group of 16+ adults through some very systematic steps and exercises that eventually saw us all able to navigate a trail (with varying degrees of difficulty and face-planted-in-the-snow ti...me!) Even I came a long way & made significant strides (& minimal glides) in these few hours compared to my dismal yet hysterical attempts 3 years ago when I spent more time IN the snow than ON the snow! I can’t recommend this type of beginners course highly enough if you want to make XC skiing your family thing. . . Note to the @alberta_ucp please don’t cut funding to maintain these awesome parks and facilities.
