This is big news! These proposed reforms will clarify the Criminal Code with respect to repealing mandatory minimums for many offences as well as permitting conditional sentences for many previously ineligible offences. Hopefully this legislation will be proclaimed soon in order to end the existing confusion. We welcome a unified set of sentencing laws that can be applied fairly by all Canadian courts.
