Day 3 of Major Incident Command and Response course for supervisors. Monique Rollin of Canadian Critical Incident Inc. is currently discussing the often vital role of the crisis negotiator.

Last speaker today for the week-long Major Incident Command and Response course was our own Cst. Geoff Graham of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), giving a demo and answering questions. As supervisors we all have differing levels of knowledge about their tactics, tools and full capabilities. Critical for incident command to know!

While these cases highlight what’s been happening in Alberta they can just as easily occur here. Have a chat with your teen regarding these online risks that then translate into real-life dangerous encounters.

While not intentional the actions of these two young drivers resulted in the loss of a life, serious injuries, and a gut punch to the rest of the community. We are not invincible, speeding and seat belts are massive safety factors, take responsibility for your friends/passengers, and truly process the fact that your actions have consequences that affect not just you but others as well.
