Bittersweet goodbyes were made even more bitter by the necessity for a virtual goodbye party as @rich.klen departed us for a move back home to Prince George in 2021. If you've been lucky enough to work with Rich, as a patient or a peer, you know that the level of expertise and knowledge he brought to every appointment was only exceeded by his capacity for attention and empathy. Rich, thanks for all of the laughs shared and memories made in and outside of the clinic over the l...ast few years. It's been nothing but a pleasure to work beside you. BC is lucky to have you back. If you have a parting message or memory for Rich, please drop it in the comments so we can try to convince him to stay, or at the very least make him cry on the way out. Hoping our paths cross again soon, visit often

One of the main reasons we see athletes in the clinic is because they've started some training or an exercise program that their body doesn't have the capacity to perform properly. Over time, as they progress their volume and load, the body's ability to compensate for this lack of capacity fails and injury prevails. Coming in to see us for a movement assessment with one of our therapists is a great way to have your mobility and strength analyzed to make sure you possess the a...bility to perform certain essential movements key to preventing injury in your sport. Getting proactive about your health is one of the best things you can do to keep you moving and performing at your best. Hit the link below to book in for a movement assessment with our team of physios and chiros. We can help athletes of all levels, in person or virtually! thebridge.janeapp.com

James Greene, Strength Coach & Athletic Therapist What sparked your interest for your career? Simply put, I want to help people better themselves and achieve their goals.... What aspect of your practice are you most passionate about? Education and knowledge transfer. I truly believe if people can better understand their body, learn to use it and why/how to do certain things, they are more likely to do the big and little things to be better human beings. Do you have any favourite injuries or body sites to work with? Do you specialize in anything specifically? Functional movement as a whole in regards to chronic injury or performance. I look at the body as a whole, determine which functional limitations exist which could be causing predispositions to injuries or performance. Sports in particular. What can patients expect from a session with you? Authenticity, no bull. I strive to be same the person I am inside the clinic in which I am outside of the clinic. What are you up to when you're not at The Bridge? All things mountains. Running, Climbing (Trad, Ice, Alpine, Sport), Ski Touring, Mountaineering, Hiking, Scrambling and drinking beer by a fire. "I have done my job if we can correctly identify your limitations, robustly transfer the knowledge of why it is an issue and what we need to do about it, then build a short and long term plan to accomplish your goals. If you leave feeling ready to take the next steps and knowing what they are and how they fit into your life as whole, you will be successful." Meet the Team! Ashley Garner, Chiropractor What sparked your interest for your career? I always wanted to work in the medical field, but with a conservative care approach that did not involve prescribing medications. Growing up with an athletic background led me to a particular interest in working with athletes of all levels, from weekend warriors to the pros. ... What aspect of your practice are you most passionate about? I am most passionate about building meaningful relationships with people while helping them to not only reach their goals, but achieve things they didn’t know were possible. Do you have any favourite injuries or body sites to work with? Do you specialize in anything specifically? I like everything, but I'd have to say my favourite areas to treat are the neck and jaw. I have also really enjoyed treating pregnant women! What can patients expect from a session with you? You can expect a thorough assessment at your first visit, followed by treatments consisting of ART, adjustments and rehab exercises to give you the tools to take control of your own health. Sometimes I like to add in instrument assisted soft tissue techniques such as Gaston or cupping to keep people on their toes! A typical follow up appointment with me is around 20 minutes, which is often longer than your average rack and crack chiropractor! What are you up to when you're not at The Bridge? Hiking, playing soccer, petting dogs, & trying new restaurants around Edmonton! Follow this link in to book your next session with Ashley: https://thebridge.janeapp.com//the-bridge-south-edmo/book
