Kirk Had a week off last week to get caught up on orders. Managed to finish 2 Kirk pieces in that time before almost losing an eye and having my back seize up Still so in love with this natural barn wood with the white and black Having the 2 pieces side by side makes me want to make a large multi piece. ... #thewoodpantry #woodwork #blackfalds #lacombe #sylvanlake #reddeer #innisfail #alberta #calgary #yyc #edmonton #yeg #woodart #geometric #mosaic #modern #rustic #homedecor #shoplocal #handcrafted #barnwood #restore

People must feel that the natural world is important and valuable and beautiful and wonderful and an amazement and a pleasure. - Sir David Attenborough Fact about me, I love nature. Growing up I always watched Discovery Channel, National Geographic. I spent time listening to David Attenborough talking about nature, preserving and protecting it. I fell in love with the ocean and while growing up I longed to become a marine biologist. That obviously didn’t happen but I still... love the natural world and my next favorite natural feature are mountains and the creatures that live in it. My husband and I spend as much time as we can hiking and camping in the mountains, enjoying the peacefulness and cleansing our busy souls. Summit - 2’ by 3’ multilayer mountain piece. Available for sale! $220 #thewoodpantry #woodwork #blackfalds #lacombe #sylvanlake #reddeer #innisfail #alberta #calgary #yyc #edmonton #yeg #woodart #geometric #mosaic #modern #rustic #homedecor #shoplocal #handcrafted #mountains #nature

A friendly reminder why hand crafted pieces can be so expensive. I challenge those who have questioned my pricing to get set up and build their own pieces. I’m in my first year still and have spent a few thousand just to get set up with good quality tools and materials to ensure I am providing you with forever lasting pieces. I know my value and I will always stick to it. I work full time in retail and have learned a few things. 1. Don’t ever devalue yourself and your work ...because someone doesn’t want to pay your price. People will/should understand why. I recently had a lady who made a purchase and she told me she understood why my pieces were expensive and the amount of time and work that goes into them and I appreciated it so much! It gave me that reassurance I needed. 2. It is ok to walk away from business! Do you want to do business with people who don’t respect and understand what you do? Probably not. It’s hard yes but if you lower your price for one person you best do it for all because it’ll look really shitty on your part charging customer X a lower price then customer Y. So be consistent and honest. My goal soon is to showcase my process when building wood art to help everyone fully understand how much time, work, effort and tears that go into these pieces. I have no issues explaining why my pieces are expensive, so please just ask! And don’t quit messaging me if we were communicating and a price was too high. Nothing is more frustrating when I am communicating a piece and I don’t have a definitive answer. I’ve taken time out of my day to reply back to your messages. Just tell me no thanks, I can handle it. I’m a big girl. Thanks! - Amy
