Today was not only Halloween, but it was also the last day for the 2020 garden employees. This crew brought their "A game" to work whether it was hot, rainy or cold. Great job!

The Garden overhaul is going very well.
The ACCESS Community Garden is a great place to watch the birds migrate each year!
We are sad to say goodbye to the summer students. They have done a great job tearing done all the beds, pulling weeds, watering, painting the shed and making walking paths. It was a weird summer but they worked safely and still kept a smile on their face...or at least I think they are smiling under those masks?!
This week's bag included: sweet potato, corn, green beans, carrots, cabbage, and apples.
This week's bag includes: watermelon, carrots, green onions, asparagus, red bell pepper, garlic and grapes.
The walking paths are the first items to go back into the garden. They will mimic the walking paths in the surrounding park, giving the entire space some continuity.
ACCESS is getting a big "Thumbs up" from these happy customers!

The crew have been hard at work and now the demolition phase is complete! We are back to working with a blank canvas. Next, we will plan the re-design.

Thanks to the June 27th Miracle donation collection, ACCESS is giving packed Food Boxes back to the Kingsville community. Come to the ACCESS office (23 Mill St W) to pick up a Food Box on Friday July 17 between 1:00-3:00pm. If you are experiencing a need, let a Food Box ease some of the worry.
The ACCESS Community Garden is getting a complete overhaul thanks to funding support from the Local Food Infrastructure Fund. Since 2011, the Kingsville-based garden has provided Windsor-Essex residents with healthy food, gardening/cooking education, volunteerism, community partnerships, employment, garden-to-you school gardens, and so much more. Having served thousands of visitors, the garden needs some TLC. Our new summer students will help us redesign and rebuild the garden in the weeks ahead, but first...it is Demolition time!
